Sheila Simmons begins her seventh season as an assistant coach for the Lady Colonels.  Her primary responsibilities include recruiting, maintenance of academic progress, and on-court coaching, working with the post players.

 Simmons’ recruiting efforts have brought many quality basketball players into the EKU program.  Her recruiting and her relentless efforts monitoring the academics of each student athlete have helped Simmons raise the level of excellence here at Eastern.

 “Sheila has been active in her recruiting efforts and development of post players, in addition to her maintenance of academic achievements,” said coach Inman.  “She has been very instrumental in establishing the success of the program.”

 Simmons came to Eastern after serving as graduate assistant at the University of Montevallo (AL) in 1993.  In the two years prior, Sheila served Montevallo as a student assistant.  She holds a master’s degree in education and a bachelor's in chemistry and physical education, both earned at Montevallo.
